RMPJC CO-SPONSORED OR SUPPORTED EVENTS:
CLASSES ON THE ECONOMY THURSDAYS (EXCEPT THIRD THURSDAY OF THE MONTH):
The RMPJC is holding a class and discussion on the economy which covers
everything from defining economics, capitalism and globalization, their
effects on the average American, the growing income and wealth gap in
America, CEO compensation, the Federal Reserve, what can be done to
level the playing field. Please come and join us! 7 pm to 8:30 pm. The
class is free. If you're interested call Ryan at 303-818-0965. (On
Thursday, June 11, we'll be showing the film at the University (listed
below) instead of the class).
Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7. DENVER Help hand out flyers at the
People's Fair this weekend. The flyers focus on inviting people to
participate in conversations on the economic crisis and on creating a
new economy. On the back of the flyers there will be some immediate
actions people can take, including calling Congress on the Employee
Free Choice Act, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, and against
funding for the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. We will hand the
flyers out outside the entrances to the Fair. People can pick up flyers
for distribution at the Progressive Democrats of Colorado table. Call
me or send me and email if you can help. 303-444-6981x2.

County Commissioner, Will Toor will talk on "The Role of Local

Thursday, June 11 BOULDER Confused by the causes and consequences of
the financial crisis? Come join us at the National Economic Crisis
Video Screening & Forum. The bailouts are widening the gap between
the rich and poor. Our government has spent trillions of our dollars to
prop up a banking system that has failed the country. Wall St. needs to
be stopped and our government needs to break up the insolvent banks and
never again let them get so big that they distort our politics and
corrupt the economy. This film is being shown all over the country next
week. Be part of this national movement to take our country back. The
video can also be seen at
www.anewwayforward, but we'd love to have you join us for this community event. 7 p.m. at Humanities 150, CU.

Tuesday, June 23 BOULDER A talk by David Barsamian:
"Afghanistan-Pakistan: The Empire Retools" What is going on in
Afghanistan and Pakistan and why is U.S. involvement rapidly
escalating? Exit strategy from Iraq? Send the troops to Afghanistan.
Obama identifies Afghanistan and Pakistan as the central front of the -
no longer called but still being fought - war on terror. Iraq was the
wrong war but the one being waged primarily on the Afghanistan and
Pakistan border is the right one. Are these policies the change voters
wanted? David Barsamian has traveled extensively in South and West
Asia. He is the founder and director of the award-winning Alternative
Radio (
http://www.alternativeradio.org),
based in Boulder. AR is heard on KGNU on Wednesday eves at 6. Author of
numerous books, his latest are Targeting Iran and What We Say Goes. The
